Review FIG 2026 Congress: 3D-Stereo-Visualisierung live in Kapstadt

Schneider Digital with 3D PluraView at the Akili3D booth

Schneider Digital and its South African technology partner Akili3D have successfully concluded the FIG 2026 Congress: from 24 to 29 May 2026, Cape Town became the international hub for the geodesy, surveying and geospatial sectors. At the Cape Town International Convention Centre, Akili3D showcased professional 3D stereo visualisation using the 3D PluraView, alongside Schneider Digital PULSARON workstations for demanding 3D, GIS and mapping workflows.

The focus of the exhibition stand was the precise, stereoscopic representation of complex geodata. Visitors were able to experience first-hand how 3D city models, photogrammetry projects and point clouds can be visualised on the 3D PluraView with true spatial depth.

Stereoscopic visualisation creates clear added value, particularly in geodata processing, surveying, mapping and infrastructure planning: structures, elevation data and spatial relationships become more intuitively comprehensible. This supports more precise analyses, better decisions and more efficient workflows.

High-performance workstations for demanding geospatial projects

In addition to visualisation, the right computing power also played a key role. The professionally configured Schneider Digital PULSARON workstations proved their worth as a high-performance platform for data-intensive applications – from large point clouds and 3D models to complex photogrammetry and GIS projects.

The combination of 3D PluraView and the PULSARON workstation demonstrated how hardware and software work together optimally: smooth rendering, high image quality, stable performance and an ergonomic workstation for professional 3D stereo applications.

Intensive exchange with the international geospatial community

The FIG 2026 Congress was held under the theme “The Future We Want – The SDGs and Beyond” and brought together experts, academics, decision-makers and technology providers from the international surveying and geospatial industry. For Akili3D and Schneider Digital, the event provided an ideal platform to demonstrate the benefits of professional 3D stereo visualisation through direct dialogue.

One thing became particularly clear: demand for precise, high-performance and ergonomic solutions for processing complex 3D data continues to grow. Together with international partners such as Akili3D, Schneider Digital will continue to provide professional 3D stereo solutions, high-end workstations and bespoke visualisation systems for demanding geospatial workflows.
